Kerri Ann Murphy holds a BA in Theater and English from Rutgers University. After graduation, she completed her Meisner technique training with Barbara Marchant at the William Esper Studio, voice training with Nancy Mayans, and movement training with Loyd Williamson, creator of the Williamson Technique, at the Actor’s Movement Studio. She also attended the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art’s Acting Shakespeare conservatory in London, where she performed in a production of Measure for Measure under the direction of Nona Sheppard. Upon completion of her training at RADA, she co-founded the Acting Shakespeare Company with her fellow classmates and re-staged the production Off-Broadway. Other memorable productions include Timon of Athens with the York Shakespeare Company, Date with a Stranger, and The Cherry Orchard.
Kerri discovered her enthusiasm for working with young people while teaching drama at Youth Theater Interactions, Inc., and began teaching at High Tech shortly after. Throughout her years at High Tech, Kerri has enjoyed introducing her students to the world of theater, both in her English classes and in her Shakespeare elective. She has directed productions of Macbeth and A Midsummer Night’s Dream at High Tech, and takes her students to perform at the NJ Shakespeare Theater’s annual Shakesperience Festival. Born and raised in Jersey City, Kerri is excited to continue sharing her love of theater with Hudson County teens in her new role as the Drama Instructor.
